A mini vacation (after work) on Jekyll Island, Georgia - balancing work and family life

After spending the day with clients, my husband and I decided to take a walk on the beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia.

This is the view from the parking lot of our beaches on Labor Day weekend........(even on holidays, Jekyll Island, Georgia is typically not crowded.)

The birds were feeding along the shore line..

Man with hooks and children on intertubes.....a possible recipe for disaster.......(but we did not witness any disasters)......

Even the pets on the beach were having fun.......(Pets are allowed on the beach after 5:00 each day)...My golden retrievers love it when we take them.....

We found a lucky dollar....

My husband and I are still questioning what kind of sea weed this is.....any suggestions?

Labor Day Weekend Events in Brunswick, Saint Simons and Jekyll Island, Georgia

Kicking off the Labor Day Weekend in Brunswick, Georgia is First Friday in historic downtown Brunswick. Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 3 on Newcastle and Gloucester Streets, enjoy live music, Art Downtown with an opening reception for artist Terrie Daniel as well as a fundraiser for Citizens for Human Animal Treatment. Enjoy the "He Said Beer, She said Wine" tastings in the restaurants and shops. Even the Brunswick Library is open late with crafts and other programs.

Saturday morning, September 4 get up and shop in the open air markets at The Brunswick Bazaar and Farmer's Market from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in historic downtown Brunswick. On Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5, visit Postell Park on Saint Simons Island, Georgia (in the Pier Village) for the Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts and Crafts Show. Vendors are open from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. both days offering everything from jewelry, arts, crafts, sculptures and paintings.

End the weekend with "A Little Light Music" at 7 p.m. at the Saint Simons Island Lighthouse with the last of the outdoor summer concerts hosted by The Coastal Georgia Historical Society. The new clinic will open on October 6, 2010.
