New Year's Eve on Jekyll Island Georgia ..... all dressed up for the Holidays.
What a great New Year's Eve spent touring the 240 acre historic district of Jekyll Island while learning about our local history as well as the history of Chritmas Traditions throughout the ages. Jekyll Island's staff does a great job of showing off their historic district while educating you.

Julie,
What a very nice look at the homes there in the Golden Isles. Thank you for the tour.
I hope that you and your family have a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Don,
These beautifully restored homes are a part of our history. Some of them built in the 1800's and early 1900's.
I wish peace, health, prosperity and happiness for you and yours in the New Year.
My wife and I were just discussing the other day, that one of these years, we are coming to jekyll for Thanksgiving and going non traditional...we gonna get shrimp right off a boat and have that for dinner!
Shrimp off the boats are available all through shrimping season.....that is a great idea....a lot less work than a turkey. We buy shrimp and other seafood at the docks - the prices are incredible and the food is great.
That is what I have heard Jules. That is why we want to come and do that for Thanksgiving one year! When is Shrimping season?
Jeremy,
Starts in the very end of August (when we have our Blessing of the Shrimp Fleet - I'll write a post) and runs the months that end of December from what I recall - but Thanksgiving is definitely in - and it depends on what kind of season we are having. My father picks up shrimp for us down at the docks and puts it in a cooler when we want some. I haven't purchased seafood in a store in years.
No photos allowed to be taken inside the homes? You need one of those cool stealth cameras that you wear on your lapel or in your earlobe. Maybe that was just television? LOL
Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- make it a good start.
