After spending the day with clients, my husband and I decided to take a walk on the beach on Jekyll Island.
This is the view from the parking lot of our beaches on Memorial Day weekend........(even on holidays, Jekyll is not crowded.)
The birds were feeding along the shore line..
Man with hooks and children on intertubes.....a possible recipe for disaster.......(but we did not witness any disasters)......
Even the pets on the beach were having fun.......(Pets are allowed on the beach after 5:00 each day)...My golden retrievers love it when we take them.....
We found a lucky dollar....
My husband and I are still questioning what this is......any suggestions?
Jekyll Island Pier close to sunset....
Kayakers coming in from fishing....
View of the Saint Simons Island Lighthouse from the Jekyll Island Pier.
Sunset view from the Jekyll Island Pier to the Sidney Lanier Bridge.
Living where you can manage a full day of work and still be able to spend an evening doing all of this and then having dinner together really helps me balance work and family. Each of us should look around and see what we can do close to home with our families and plan mini vacations each week.....

Gonna have to be Jekyll Island on my list.
Thanks for sharing the photos. They were great.
Linda
Linda,
Thanks.....I have to give all the credit for the photos to my husband (I was a good wife and just stood behind him and told him what to do while he was taking them.).
Gorgeous beach. I believe that the picture you were questioning is coral. Your husband takes very nice pictues. Was the fishing good?
Julie - lovely pictures, looks like a beautiful area - thanks for sharing with us.
My kind of place to visit. Great photos
Leolinda,
The fisherman on the beach didn't catch anything while we were walking but a lady on the pier caught a baby shark and a whiting on one line.......
Mary,
Thanks.
I love Jekyll. I've been there many times. It is definitely a great treasure. Have you posted up any pics from the Millionaires Village?
Judy,
Thanks
Bob,
I have not.....there is yet another idea for a localism post......thanks
My family visits Jekyl every summer. Our Hotel is now gone. Not sure if we will visit this year. Thanks for the pix.
Julie,
I feel as though I have had a mental health day already and my day hasn't even started. Thanks
Don R.
Rod,
What happened to your hotel?
Don,
Nice to hear from you.....living here works wonders on the mind and soul.....(I can't live in traffic or away from a coast and won't try).....we are going back tonight - maybe by jet ski this time depending on the tides.....forgot to check them yet.....
Julie, The Buccaneer got bulldozed last October.
Rod,
You are right....aren't they going to build condos there?
These are wonderful photos! Jekyll Island is a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing!
Rich,
Happy to share.....love it here.....
Absolutely beautiful Julie!! Thanks for sharing!
Julie, Beach and water views look beautiful...you really had a perfect day for your mini vacation! Glad you were able to go and enjoy.
Josh,
It is beautiful....thanks
Gary,
We go almost every day after work and walk on the beach......
Julie,
Given the price of gas I believe that "mini-vacations" will become more prevalent. Glad you enjoyed the day.
Wonderful pictures!! Thank you for sharing them.
Tracey,
I am so glad I live in a resort area so I can take a mini-vacation....
Barbara,
My husband took those while we were out....I am so bad with the camera......
Julie - I am turning a little green here and envy is a bad thing ... all I can say is wow ... just to visit would be great but to live there WOW!!
I went again tonight and we rode bikes on the nature trails where you see the deer, baby rabbits, birds, and other animals, then walked on driftwood beach (where everyone take their photos and has wedding ceremonies). It is WOW.....why not live in a place where you can take a vacation every night after work or all day on your days off (if you will take one).
