The Brunswick Country Club and Golf Course in Brunswick, Georgia
The Brunswick Country Club in Brunswick, Georgia has a club history that dates back to 1920. In 1936, the club built 9 holes at its new location. Donald Ross was hired to design the back 9 holes.
Donald Ross laid much of the foundation of the golf industry in America, designing over 600 golf courses in America from 1900 - 1950. Ross returned and drew a redesign for the front 9 holes of the Brunswick Country Club that was implemented and the 18 hole golf course was opened in 1939.
Several years ago, the Brunswick Country Club had the honor of having world renowned golfer and golf course designer Davis Love IIIbring the course back to Ross's design and reopened in November 2007. Love, a native of Coastal Georgia, brought the Brunswick Country Club golf course back to its original splendor. This included rebuilding the greens to their original size, shape and elevations. The tee complexes were updated, holes lengthened and bunkers built to today golf industry standards.
The 18 hole Brunswick Country Club golf course is located on Highway 17 North (near the Chapel Crossing intersection) in Brunswick, Georgia. In addition to the restoration of course, a 16,000 square foot Club House was completed in 2009.
The Club House at the Brunswick Country Club offers locker rooms, meeting rooms, spacious dining areas, grill room and bar area and a golf shop.
Barnard Architects of Savannah, Georgia designed the club house to take advantage of the golf course views as well functionality for special events and member functions.
